چکیده

1 — Much interest is growing in advanced interferometric SAR methods for full 3D imaging. Multibaseline SAR tomographic elevation beam forming, i.e. spatial spectral estimation, is a promising technique in this framework. Recently, this concept has been integrated with the differential interferometry concept, producing the advanced differential tomography processing mode which produces ‘space-time’ signatures of scattering dynamics in the SAR cell. In this paper, the use of this new framework is investigated in critical scenarios of multiple scattering with temporal signal variations, both from scatterer deformation motions and scatterer temporal decorrelation. The first scenario is related to deformation velocity estimation in layover urban areas. Differential tomography algorithms are experimented to extend classical differential interferometry operation, using real ERS-1/2 data and continuing the first tests. The second scenario is related to elevation focusing of temporal decorrelating volume forest scatterers. After analysing blurring effects of conventional tomography and performance bounding in this condition, differential tomography based algorithms for 3-D imaging robust to temporal decorrelation are presented. Simulated performance analysis and first real E-SAR data results are reported.

Combining SAR tomography and a PSI approach for high- resolution 3-D imaging of an urban area

Combining persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI) and SAR tomography approaches has the potential to overcome layover scenarios in urban areas and may thus increase the level of detail of differential interferometric measurements of displacements in such environments. In this paper, we report the current status and results of our efforts to integrate SAR tomography into an operational interfe...

Comparison of Local and Non-Local Methods in Covariance Matrix Estimation by Using Multi-baseline SAR Interferometry and Height Extraction for Principal Components with Maximum Likelihood Approach

By today, the technology of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) has been largely exploited in digital elevation model (DEM) generation and deformation mapping. Conventional InSAR technique exploits two SAR images acquired from slightly different angles, in which the information of elevation and deformation can be captured through processing of the phase difference of the image...

Radiometric Issues in Adaptive Polarimetric Sar Tomography

Multibaseline (MB) SAR tomography (Tomo-SAR) is an advanced mode of SAR interferometry, allowing full 3D imaging of volumetric and layover scatterers along the azimuth, range and height dimensions. Recently, this technique has also been extended in a polarimetric sense (PolTomo-SAR), exploiting MB SAR data acquired with different polarization channels. In this way, the joint estimation is possi...
